Why two quotes never match
"A website" can mean a template with your logo, a site designed around your business, or a store that issues DIAN e-invoices. They share a name and nothing else: not the work, not the risk, not the upkeep.
The other half of the gap is what the first number leaves out: who pays for hosting, who fixes things when they break, whose name the domain is in, and what it costs to leave. A cheap quote that skips all of that can cost more over a year.
What actually drives the price
- How many pages, and how much distinct content each one carries.
- Whether you need a store, bookings or a custom tool, or just information pages.
- Who writes the copy and sources the photos: you, or the team building it.
- Custom design or an adapted template. A template is faster; a custom design fits what your customers look for.
- Integrations: payment gateways like Wompi or Bold, DIAN e-invoicing, WhatsApp, inventory.
- Technical SEO and a Google Business Profile included, or billed separately.
- Hosting, backups, updates and support after launch.
- Who owns what: domain, design, content, payment accounts, and the code or engine.
Our prices, as a concrete anchor
We are not going to invent an "average market price". What we can give you is our own published pricing, so you have one real point of comparison.
| Package | Price in Colombia | What is included | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professional Site | COP 5,200,000 | Up to ~6 pages, two design directions, technical SEO, Google Business Profile and your own admin for text, services and blog | 2 to 4 weeks |
| Integrated Site | COP 7,900,000 | Everything in Professional plus one module on our engine: a store, bookings or an interactive piece | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Something bigger | Custom proposal | Scope in writing, signed contract, 50% to start | Dates in the proposal |
| Monthly care | From COP 90,000 a month | Hosting, updates, backups, monitoring and small fixes; required while we host you | Monthly |
The usual options, compared
This table is a general comparison of how these options tend to work, not a survey or a price study. Every provider is different - use it to know what to ask.
| Option | Who builds it | Who owns it | Maintenance | Typical risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DIY site builder | You | Your content is yours; the site lives inside the platform | You, with the platform's tools | Your time, and leaving the platform is often hard |
| Template freelancer | One person | Depends on the deal; sometimes the domain ends up in the builder's name | Varies with availability | If that person disappears, nobody has the keys |
| Traditional agency | A team | Depends on the contract | Often billed hourly or by plan | Vague scope and changes invoiced afterwards |
| MyPixel | Our team, on our engine | Domain in your name from day one; design and content yours once paid; the engine is ours and licensed | Monthly care from COP 90,000 | You rely on us for the engine, which is why leaving has a fixed, published price |
What the first number leaves out
Before comparing, add up what you will pay every month or year, not just the upfront fee.
- Domain: yearly renewal, and whose name it is registered in.
- Hosting and maintenance: included, billed separately, or on you.
- Payment gateway fees on every sale, if you sell online.
- A DIAN e-invoicing provider, if your store invoices.
- Monthly paid plugins or apps, if the platform needs them.
- Changes after launch: which are free and which are billed.
What a serious quote must include
- The scope in writing: pages, features and integrations, by name.
- A fixed price, and how scope changes are priced before they are done.
- Dates per stage, and what they need from you to hit them.
- Whose name the domain, design, content and payment accounts are in.
- What hosting and maintenance cost each month, and what that covers.
- What happens if you leave: what you get and what it costs.
- A guarantee with a time limit and exactly what it covers.
- Whether technical SEO, a Google Business Profile and analytics are included.
- Payment terms: deposit, instalments and which deliveries they are tied to.
How to use this guide
Take the quotes you have and run them through the checklist above. Whatever is missing, ask for in writing. A clear answer is a good sign; "we will sort that out later" usually ends in an extra invoice.
If you want a second opinion on a quote you already have, write to us. If what you were offered fits better than ours, we will tell you.

Questions
How much does a website with MyPixel cost?
The Professional Site is COP 5,200,000 and the Integrated Site, with a store, bookings or an interactive piece, is COP 7,900,000. Monthly care starts at COP 90,000 depending on the size of the site, with the exact figure in your proposal.
Why does a store cost more than an information site?
Because it adds products, inventory, payments, automated emails and, in Colombia, DIAN e-invoicing. There is more to build, test and keep running.
Is there a monthly cost?
With almost any option, yes: domain, hosting and maintenance are not free, even when they are hidden. With us, care is required while we host you and covers hosting, updates, backups, monitoring and small fixes.
Is a cheaper site always worse?
No. If all you need is a page with your phone number and a booking link, a site builder may be enough. What matters is knowing what you get, whose name it is in, and what happens when something breaks.
What if I want to leave later?
With us, with your account settled you keep running the installed version for free, without updates or support, or we move everything to your new provider within 10 business days for a fixed COP 600,000 + VAT where applicable.
